Julia DeRosa

Oboe / English Horn

In 2012 Ms. DeRosa was named Overall Winner of the Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition, honoring young classical, jazz, and contemporary musicians of all instruments. She was also a second prize winner at the 2011 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. As winner of the Aspen Music Festival Winds and Harp Concerto Competition, Ms. DeRosa performed the Kalliwoda Concertino with the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen. In the summer of 2012, she toured Italy and Switzerland as soloist with the Sessione Senese per la Musica e l’Arte, performing concertos of Mozart and Vivaldi. She has also been soloist with the New Haven Symphony and was featured on National Public Radio’s “From the Top” program. Julia contributes her enthusiasm to the many ensembles of Juilliard: Orchestra, Opera, New Juilliard Ensemble, Axiom, ChamberFest, the New York Woodwind Quintet Seminar, and the 2012 Juilliard Orchestra performance at London’s BBC Proms. She also enjoys a freelance career, which has led to performances with the Metropolitan Opera, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the New York City Ballet, the American Symphony Orchestra, and the New York City Opera. 

She graduated in 2013 from the Julliard School and  she was awarded the Peter Mennin Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Leadership in Music. She is currently a second-year Master’s Degree student at the Juilliard School,
