Praised by the New York Times for her “superior musicianship” enjoys an unusually diverse career as a recitalist, soloist with orchestra and chamber music collaborator as well as a master teacher and clinician. As an orchestral violist, she has served as Principal Violist of the Houston Grand Opera, the Dallas Opera, American Composers Orchestra and the Brooklyn Philharmonic. She has played in the viola sections of Houston Symphony and the New York Philharmonic. She has also performed with many popular artists including Michael Jackson, Barbara Streisand, Ricky Martin and Julio Iglesias. As a master class clinician and recitalist, she has appeared throughout the United States as well as Canada, Europe, China, Japan and Korea Her summer residencies have included the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, the Heifetz International Institute of Music, Litomisl International String Masterclasses in the Czech Republic, and Domaine-Forget in Canada. Ms. Ritscher is honored to have been the string consultant for the award-winning book by Madeline Bruser, The Art of Practicing; a Guide to Making Music from the Heart.
